US Air Force claims to have built a superplane in secret

Revealed: US Air Force Has Secretly Built and Flown a New Fighter Jet The new digital tools that designed the full-scale flight demonstrator could herald a sea change in weapons acquisition. >The U.S. Air Force's disclosure that it has secretly built and flown a prototype fighter jet could signal a shift in how the military buys weapons and who builds them. >Will Roper, the head of Air Force acquisition, revealed the existence of the new jet, which he said was part of the service's Next Generation Air Dominance, or NGAD, project. "NGAD right now is designing, assembling, testing in the digital world, exploring things that would have cost time and money to wait for physical world results," Roper said during a video presentation at the Air Force Association's Virtual Air, Space & Cyber Conference on Tuesday. "NGAD has come so far that the full-scale flight demonstrator has already flown in the physical world. It's broken a lot of records in the doing." >Roper provided no more details about the jet, which is presumed to be the Pentagon's first attempt to build a "sixth-generation" tactical aircraft after the fifth-gen F-22 and F-35 jets. He even declined to name the company or companies that built the jet. But he said the digital design technology used to build the new plane could increase competition and increase the number of American military jet makers. >"Digital engineering is lowering overhead for production and assembly [so] you do not have to have huge facilities, huge workforces [and] expensive tooling," Roper said on a video conference call with reporters after his presentation. "It is letting us take aircraft assembly back to where we were in the [19]70s and prior to it — back when we had 10 or more companies who could build airplanes for the United States Air Force, because you could do it in hangar-like facilities with small, but very good teams, of engineers and mechanics. We're going back to that. It's super exciting." >Lockheed Martin and Boeing are the only two U.S. companies that currently build fighter jets. >The Air Force in July revealed that it received 18 bids for a new drone that could fly in formation with manned fighter jets. While Boeing, Northrop Grumman and General Atomics won contracts, much smaller Kratos, which has been the subject of acquisition speculation, also received a contract. "We're...surprised there were 18 bidders," Cowen & Company analyst Roman Schweizer, wrote in a July 24 note to investors. "Having five competitors for a decent-sized program is pretty solid, in our opinion, particularly when you consider three or fewer is the norm for most platforms, weapons or systems." >Another reason for disclosing the NGAD project: Roper wants companies to invest more in digital design technology. In recent years, the Pentagon writ large has been trying to tap into innovation, particularly commercial technology, that could be adopted for the military. >Roper declined to give many additional details about the NGAD project because it is classified. But he said part of the reasoning for disclosing the existence of a test aircraft was to prove to naysayers that combat aircraft could be fully designed and tested on computers before they're physically built, much like the way Boeing and Saab built the T-7 pilot training jet in recent years. "I've had many people in the Pentagon and elsewhere, say, 'I see how you could apply that approach to a trainer like T-7, but you could not build a cutting-edge warfighting system that way,'" Roper said. "I've had to listen to that and just nod my head and say, 'Well, you may be right,' knowing in the back of my head that you're actually wrong because of what NGAD has done." >In addition to the NGAD and the T-7, Northrop Grumman is using digital design and testing in building new intercontinental ballistic missiles and it's also being used on two new satellite projects, Roper said. "My hope is to create greater credibility and the process, at least within my my own team for many who are not read in to NGAD, so that they will know to get smart on this technology because we're going to train on it, we're going to drill on it until this is the way we do business," he said. >Digital design technology is already being used by the automotive industry and Formula One racing. https://archive.is/b1rGq https://www.defenseone.com/technology/2020/09/usaf-jet/168479/

R&D, New Adoption, Procurements Thread I

NEW SHIT HOT SHIT Thread to discuss new research projects, developments, adoptions, and procurements of /k/ related material. JAPAN: "Type 20" Rifle unveiled = Improved Drainage, Pistol Renewed May 18th http://archive.is/3oiGh https://trafficnews.jp/post/96397 Translated by anon >The Ground Self Defense Forces unveiled newly adopted Type 20 5.56mm rifle and 9mm Pistol SFP 9 to the press on the 18th. The new rifle has been outfitted with use in remote island defence operations in mind, with improvements in drainage and corrosion resistance, in addition to a new stock with adjustable cheek riser and stock extension. The new rifle is to be adopted by infantry regiments of the various army groups and the Amphibious Rapid Deployment Brigade. >The current rifle (Type 89) was introduced in 1989, and pistol (P220) in 1982, both being renewed for the first time in 31 and 38 years respectively. The Ministry of Defence plans to acquire 3283 new Type 20 rifles and 323 SFP9 pistols within the year. >The new rifle is made by Howa Industries (Aichi Pref. Kiyosu City). It is capable of firing 30 rounds continuously [sic], and maintains the famous "ア・タ・レ (translates to HIT)" selector markings (安全・アンゼン=Safe)・タ(単発・タンパツ=Single Shot)・レ(連射・レンシャ=Automatic Fire)". The rifle has a grip on the forend improving manipulation [sic]. The new pistol is made by Heckler and Koch of Germany and carries 15 rounds. The grip is far more ergonomic and it is capable of single handed magazine extraction. With sexy andguards with MLOK slots, cringepods, and journalists who know so little about firearms and picatinny rails, you can all marvel how the Japanese rearmament continues cheerfully.

Board OC video competition

TL DR: VOL IS RETARDED AND CAN'T VIDEO EDIT. BEST OC VIDEO SUBMITTED BEFORE DEC 14TH GETS FEATURED ON PINNED ON A (NEW) META POST FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME. RULES BELOW. First off... Happy Aufbau Ost. I said I'd make a few videos for the board when I had free time when I got a functioning GPU. Well, GPU still missing so I got a pos from 2004.... Took me forever to render this so fuck that and it was $5 for the GPU........ I think personally, that the board needs to break off from the original 8cuck history, since a lot of our banners/oc is from that era... So..... Taking into the spirit, "What's a warboard without conflict?" signage in red, I'll give all you streloks' a little challenge. Create the an oc video for the board to be featured on the intro post for half a year, before I rotate them. The previous video was made by slovak anon here: >>7690 Entry Requirements: >must be less than file limit (20mb), preferably under 10mb >Must be submitted in WEBM format >must be oc >Sound encouraged, not required >focused on board content (If it's interesting I can accept that). >board rules apply, gore in this case means visible organs/limbs/head detached etc. If it's just a dead body I don't think anyone gives a fuck. >must be submitted before Dec 14th, 2021. >real life footage preferred >SCRUB YOUR FILE METADATA If there are no visible quality differences (eg, bad cuts like my POS right there, mismatched audio), I'll put them all into a raffle drawing and draw one as the winner. The rest will be rotated at some interval I'll figure out later (probably annually/ semi-annual) Good hunting, strelok.

Kusarigama and Other Ninja Gear

The kusarigama confuses me. The design itself is perfectly reasonable: It's a flail with a short-range weapon attached for when you get a bit too intimate with your enemy. It leaves me wondering why European flails didn't have a spike on the handle just in case, but whatever. No, the confusing thing about the kusarigama is why a sickle of all things? Why not use a kunai, a hatchet or a pick instead? They are typically seen as ninja weapons and in that regard the obvious answer is to use the sickle as a grappling hook. However, a Japanese sickle would be an absolutely shit grappling hook because the shaft is longer than the blade is wide and that's the opposite of what you want. And even if you do manage to catch something, you're going to be putting half your bodyweight directly onto your carefully sharpened blade so now all you've got is a shitty warpick. A normal pick would make an excellent hook, with the downside of losing your throat-slitting capability. And as for skirting ATF-san? Do you really think your local glow-kokujin is going to believe you when you tell him that you thresh your grain with a meteor flail, and that you do it out in the rice paddy? It would be perfect if you could just stick the chain on with a bow shackle, but I don't know if the nips had anything quite that convenient back then.

US Navy Ship on Fire for Two Days Straight

1,000-degree blaze continues to rage aboard Navy ship in San Diego The fire has brought down the USS Bonhomme Richard's forward mast. More than 400 sailors are working to put out the massive fire that continues to rage aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard in San Diego and Navy officials are unclear how long the blaze might continue to burn.nThe fire has brought down the amphibious assault ship's forward mast and caused other damage to the ship's superstructure that rises above its flight deck. "There is a tremendous amount of heat underneath and that's where it's -- it's flashing up -- also forward, closer to the bow again there's a heat source and we're trying to get to that as well," Rear Adm. Philip Sobeck, the commander of Expeditionary Strike Group 3 said at a news conference Monday in San Diego. Sobeck said that the temperatures in the fire's heat sources are reaching as high as 1,000 degrees. With temperatures that high, the sailors are rotating in on 15-minute firefighting shifts. Asked if he believes the ship could be saved, Sobeck said, "I feel absolutely hopeful because we have sailors giving it their all." He also expressed confidence that the fire will not get close to the ship's supply of one million gallons of fuel, which lies two decks below the blaze. The fire continues to cause damage to the the ship's superstructure, which rises above its flight deck and has brought down one of the two masts that tower above. Sobeck acknowledged that the ship's Halon fire suppression system -- which could have put out the initial fire -- was not activated because it was also receiving maintenance. "We again augment that with firefighting elements from the pier and the shipyard," said Sobeck. Teams of sailors were pouring water onto the ship from the pier and from tugboats along its side. Navy helicopters have also dropped 415 buckets of water on the ship to contain the fire, much as they have done in the past to help put out wildfires. There were 57 sailors injured after the fire started aboard the ship on Sunday, most have been treated for exhaustion and smoke inhalation. A U.S. official told ABC News that the last five individuals who remained hospitalized have been released from the hospital. https://web.archive.org/web/20200714005830/https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/fire-continues-rage-aboard-navy-ship-san-diego/story?id=71757147

GFS - Gardening, Food acquisition and Stock keeping thread

Greetings Streloks, as anounced in >>17677, this is the thread about gardening, acquiring food and keeping stocks for long(er) Term survival. the main topics for this thread are -growing food for long term survival. -harvesting wild food if gardening is not an option for whatever reason. -legal and illegal food acquisition in areas where gardening is hard or undoable or in the case of insufficient skills. -wild gardening/guerilla gardening as alternative ways of growing food without owning land. >What is the purpose of the info ITT? This thread is aimed at providing information to every Strelok, on how to provide his own food, wether it is only for himself, or for a large fighting force. This is not only important for Post-collapse scenarios, but also an important factor of gaining freedom by independence from the government and society. >what does this have to do with /k/? At the time of the thread creation, /k/ is the board for weapons, combat and outdoorsmanship. A part of every armed conflict is the provisioning of food for the combatants to upkeep morale and fighting ability. Knowing how to grow and how to acquire food in any conditions is an important part of sustaining a fighting force, as the past has shown that a hungry soldier cannot win a conflict, and looting, even if an option, is only a short term solution, that cannot fully replace a stable supply of fresh provisions. Therefore, i see this as a quite important, and unfortunately overlooked aspect of /k/. >What goes in regards to posting. I'm not playing janny, but i'd prefer to keep this thread focused on the 4 main topics at the beginning of the Post. Related questions and discussion are welcome, and as long as it stays roughly on topic, i see the threads purpose as fulfilled. >Is there an end goal? A possible end goal would be a summarised sheet of information, that could (after extensive QC) be added to the boo/k/ "a world turned upside down", and a separate, condensed copy collected in an lightweight pamphlet to help aspiring streloks and newfags in obtaining basic information about starting to gain independence. >How often will Information be gathered into summary sheets? no idea, depends on how much traction the thread gets. An estimate would be one sheet every 100 posts, but as i said, that depends on the amount of content, and on it's quality.

Myanmar/Burma Thread

We should have a Myanmar/Burma thread. I think it's a big enough topic to justify having it separate from the Chink/Pajeet thread. >What happened? Long story short the Myanmar military has guaranteed 1/3rd representation in their version of congress. Aung San Suu Kyi had introduced a bunch of progressive reforms over the last few years and had frequent visits with Chinese despite Myanmar and China being in a technically hostile relationship. This is a big deal because Chinese nationals have been actively waging a civil war in Northern Myanmar. Suu Kyi lost international support after she approved the Muslim genocides back in 2017 in order to avoid a death sentence by the Myanmar military. The Myanmar military claims there was election fraud, but the evidence is more that this was a move to ensure national sovereignty as the current leader of the military would have been forced to step down/retire following the elections due to anti-military legislation congress passed in recent years. The military is using the excuse of Wu Flu to keep Myanmar's congressional body from officially convening by claiming that public officials violated COVID restrictions and utilized communication means to contact foreign countries when they were under investigation (something that is extremely illegal in Myanmar). Currently civil servants are protesting by manipulating the markets to crash the Myanmar economy with no survivors in order to try to justify UN interference in the form of foreign aid. Health workers, education workers, transportation workers, and banks are refusing to operate and holding protests. Foreign interference is expected. >Why does this matter? The military coup is aiming to restore the balance of power between military and civilian offices in government. If this fails, you can expect a war between Myanmar and China before the end of Biden's presidency as a means of China acquiring more territory. Specifically gemstone/mineral-rich territory that Myanmar already heavily exploits. This could give China an unprecedented economic edge to manipulate the precious metals market. Despite the military crackdown on communications and being an active part of the government, it is likely that the international community will use the protests as an excuse to start civil war in Myanmar since it could give them an excuse to plant western government military bases near China. >Who are the good guys? There are none. Suu Kyi is a progressive bitch, but the military are equally power-hungry and mostly working to preserve power structures that they failed to keep over the 2000s/2010s. Stop crashing and let me post the thread, damn it. >Flood Detected >When the thread didn't even fucking post God damn it.

The pleasure of being **hand**loaded inside

I don't see a reloading/handloading thread, so it's my turn to make it. Post your hot loads. I've started reloading shotshells, but I'm looking to get into slugs as well I have a rifled barrel for my shotgun, so I'm torn between trying to buy a slug mould that makes calibre slugs, and just dealing with any leading, or taking the more traditional route of sub-calbre slugs and a shot cup. Currently I'm leaning towards going with a .678 ball mould since it's a lot cheaper than the only moulds I can find for calibre slugs ($70 vs $160). Also the .678 ball works out to be just a bit over an ounce, probably closer to an ounce if I'm not using perfectly pure lead. That plus a standard shot cup wad makes finding reloading data easier, as well as saving money on the lead. Is it just me or is the Lyman reloading data very sparse for anything other than light trap loads? Obviously their slug data is only for the 2 types of slug they have moulds for, not surprising. This is making me somewhat cautious of buying the calibre mould since it makes a slug that's heaver than they Lyman foster slugs. Even outside of slugs, once you get into heavier/higher velocity loads there's just a smattering of random recipes. This is a large part of what's driving me towards the ball mould since I can skip the slug section that has very little data and just use 1oz shot load data. I pity the poor guy with a .410 that just wants to load some slugs, they don't even bother offering a section for .410 Anyone have experience with slug making or handloading in general?

Sabre Rattling? Or kebab removal boogalo?

For, 5 - 6 days now, tensions have been brewing in AP Kosovo and Methoija. A protest, and blockade of the Jarinje administrative check-point, was commenced by the Serbian population, which, has by now been reduced to a insignificant number. This was done in their retaliation, of the local "authority" attempting to seize Serbian license plates. The "Police" forces, of the "Kosovo (Banana) Republic", have sent their "Special Operators" to quell this protest, resulting in a blockade of the blockees, and phsyical confrontation. Following this, the Serbian government kept on it's years long stance of eating shit, doing absolutely nothing of note, and rattling sabres, with deployments of armor, and shows of force by the airforce. Currently, the situation is tense. But, in my seen it all before view, I can safley assume nothing will happen from this. In the end, both of our "governments", are put in place by the same international cabal of pedophiles and assorted deviants. Video and pics incoming.

Autistic ideas

The subject says it all, so I shall start it with this one: .338 Lapua Magnum with a rebated rim, and an advanced primer ignition machine gun to go with it. If you don't know what that means, then kikepedia can help you out: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blowback_%28firearms%29#Advanced_primer_ignition_%28API%29_blowback But the tl;dr is that it's a simple blowback mechanism that ignites the gunpowder while the cartridge is still travelling forward, and that means the bolt can be a lot lighter. Now, this machine gun would be meant for vehicles first and foremost, because there is already a small push for .338 machine guns anyway, but that one design seems to be way too complex for vehicle use, especially if you put next to it a blowback machine gun. And in theory you could refit any weapon chambered for .338 LM to fire this new cartridge simply by modifying or replacing the bolt and otherwise leaving alone the weapon.

The Club Penguin Fanon Wiki's military autism

How the fuck is this /k/? I'll get to that. It's time to get something off my chest and I don't know where else to post this. As a kid, I was part of something called the Club Penguin Fanon Wiki. It started off as a bunch of kids writing about their OCs, as you'd expect, but that quickly grew boring, so the kids began making their own penguin countries? And what happens when that gets boring? What happens when the users don't get along? Simple: your imaginary penguin countries go to war. There are several hundred articles about Club Penguin wars, Club Penguin soldiers, Club Penguin weapons, and so on. Some went into incredibly autistic detail about this stuff, a bunch included photos of real life military equipment or penguins photoshopped with guns. Some people got into retelling real life conflicts with their made-up countries: I particularly remember checking the website several years ago for a laugh and finding some turboautist had retold the Yugoslavian Wars at great length. Yes, there was a penguin Adolf Hitler. Someone made up the High Penguins as a parody of Tolkien's elves, but fucked them up so badly everyone thought they were supposed to be Jews, so they made up a penguin Hitler named Whoot Smackler Whoot (a descendent of Penghis Khan) to genocide them. In-universe he survived WW2 and lived to a ripe old age in a retirement home, where he was beloved by all. This isn't even getting into stuff like deletion nukes, the site's editors existing in-universe as a sort of constantly bickering pantheon, or just how little separation there was between user interactions and the setting itself. The entire thing was batshit and I still can't believe it existed or that I was a part of this. Looking back, the autism put into this stuff was really impressive for something made by a bunch of kids and I figured you guys might get a kick out of it.

Squad/unit weapons and tactics in SHTF/WROL/B-word

This is mostly a fun and hypothetical discussion, not a super serious one. But what weapons and tactics do you think would be very effect in a SHTF situation, but would be unconventional or ineffective in modern warfare. I have two, 1) Trebuchets and Longbows I think it's safe to assume there'd be very limited access to modern indirect fire weapons like mortars, cannons, etc and I skeptical that homemade versions would be anymore effective than more primitive artillery to include ballistas although I don't think castle type sieges would be likely I think small trebuchets, like one's small enough to fit and operate in a truck bed, along with bow, could be used for indirect fire against encampments and defense positions from behind cover that would protect you from firearms. Not to mention you could obviously use radios or other methods for observation and fire correction side question, what kind of a fire control system could you use for archers firing without line of site? Not to mention you could incorporate improvised explosives with the trebuchet. Lastly, and this mostly applies to archery. But I think they could be absolutely killer for night attacks and ambushes in combination with guns. The archers open up on the enemy, mostly likely just wounding some, and likely forcing the enemy to use lights to try to find the archers, since bows don't have muzzle flash. Once they turn their lights on, not only are they clearly giving away their position (if it's a weapon mounted flash light or something) but also as I'm sure you're aware. If you're in a brightly lit area looking into a dark area beyond, you can't see fucking shit, vice versa, if you're in a dark area looking into a brightly lit area, you can see it plain as day. So if you can force the enemy to turn on bright lighting, your gunners will have a massive advantage over their gunners. 2) Shotguns being used like LMG Obviously I'm not referring to firerate, however I am referring to suppressive fire capabilities (at <100 yards). I don't think you'd want to use some kind of semi-auto rifle for this role in SHTF, just due to ammo conservation, those rounds are better used elsewhere. However I think a shotgun firing buckshot Maybe some birdshot thrown in as filler one round every 3-5 seconds could work very well for suppressing fire since with buckshot it'd have a pretty high chance of substantially wounding someone, even at decent ranges. I think a .22lr with large magazines could be used similarly, but I don't think would have the same psychological effect nor have the same likelyhood of causing a wound like buckshot would. Anyway, what are y'alls thoughts on the subject?

I have a (hypothetical) scenario for you /k/

Post the hypothetical WW3 or collapse of the world as we know it, the world has been thrown into neverending anarchy and majority of land inhabbitable. But a "few" nat-socs/fascists have created a time machine to stop this from happening. They have many equipment from all over the world, people from all over the white and asian world. But they aren't as much diffrent in idealogy And also have some plans for nuclear weapons. Let's say their manpower is around 1 million. They of course want to help the Third reich to win the second WW2. Where and when, should they go? How would it work out for them? Pic semi-unrelated

"Safe" Landmines

As we all know, landmines are a clusterfuck. Any retard with a garden trowel can plant one then forget about it a month later, yet the nasty little cunt will still gib his grandson 4 decades later. Problem is that they are so effective so armies do send every retard with a garden trowel to booby trap fields and now we have nightmares like Cambodia where the locals look like Gammatelier's wet dream. So my question is this: Why don't we have "perishable" landmines? Some sort of killswitch that either detonates or deactivates the charge after a set amount of time. Let's say 5 years. The switch could be based on an internal timer such as a digital clock, a radioisotope, a slow chemical reaction or even a physical process like a wind-up clock. Alternatively, it could be based on corrosion, such as by having an exposed rod of iron or a length of rope that will eventually rust/rot through and disarm the bomb. The latter system, of course, would be much less reliable and would not work in dry environments but it would be much easier to produce.

One-Time Time Travel

If you were offered the chance to 'time travel' back to any date in 1938, anywhere in the world, where/when would you go? What would you do? Would you even accept the offer? You would be spending the rest of your life in that era nya~

Drone threa(t/d)

What are your thoughts about drones/UAVs in general, anon? They're becoming increasingly common nowadays, terrorists have even used Quadrocopter drones to remotely bomb targets. What could a potential insurgent/resistance fighter use them for? Do you have ideas on how to utilize them, as weapons, reconnaissance or delivery vehicles? Or something else entirely? I'm genuinely interested in knowing what an inventive fighter could use these for >Inb4 datamining thread

/100rads/ - Offtopic /k/anteen: New Beginnings

Welcome to /100rads/, this thread is a catch-all for general discussion that Strelok either doesn't believe needs its own thread, or isn't particularly relevant to the board topics at hand. If you want to trade, talk, get a mission, or find out the latest news, this is the place to go. If your posts in an existing thread are starting to seriously derail the main subject, you may be asked to move your discussion here. Rule 1 is enforced more stringently here, but all other board rules are considered relaxed. Staff reserves the right to refuse service for any reason. There should only ever be two /100rads/ thread inside the catalog at any one time- the current acting thread, and the previously locked thread if applicable.

Missile Defense

Okay, so riddle me this. How can you hit something moving at so many times the speed of sound from hundreds of miles away when we still measure the CEP of the most advanced weapons in meters? How are you killing a group of reentry vehicles with pellets when they've been designed to withstand reentry heat? What's going to stop any missile from just dumping hundreds of pounds worth of chaff into its trajectory to make its signature prohibitively large? How can you deal with an EMP being detonated as the warheads descend? With so many possible penaids, how can you possibly be hitting when it seems like it would be a challenge just to hit a single inert, alone, and unprotected target in the first place? I know some of these questions are easier than others, but I'm just having doubts as to how this could defend against even a limited attack.

3D-Printed Funs

Pic unrelated I Found these randomly in a deterencedispensed.com comments section. a /pol/ user has been posting files to a glock reciever too. Don't know how safe the links are. http://www.mediafire.com/file/2742dv81ukb0i8h/FOSSCAD_MEGA_PACK_v4.8_%2528Ishikaw https://ctrlpew.com/fgc9-file-drop-2/ After what I've seen every now and then in /pol/, I'm surprised that there has been little to no discussion on 3D printed firearms. Things about 3D-printed Firearms in general >Most are designed and tested extensively by gunsmiths and firearms enthusiasts alike. >This is most accessible to people who own a 3D printer for printing in general. >The main appeal to doing this is being able to make your own firearms without needing to do anything "official", and the hobbyist-engineer aspects of it. >Them being "ghost guns" is completely a load of media fearmongering. Caveats to 3D-Printing Firearms >The requirements to build one and keep it structurally sound are quite strict, readmes and instructions are important. some recievers you'll need to print them on an angle, with support material to match. >most jewtube vids on 3D-printed funs say that the cost to build one isn't much different than buying parts and assembling a firearm on your own. I'm not sure if that's because of parts cost, or if most 3d-printing firearms Youtubers count the printer as part of the cost of building the weapon itself. >Most design their materials around PLA, but you're best looking for specifically impact-resistant PLA. >Professionally-gunsmithed firearms are typically (touted as) safer than those with 3D-printed materials. >The liberator is at best, a proof of concept, and at worst, a way to get your fingers blown off. It really is a shit gun.

Third-world armies

What should be the strategy for militaries that don't have big budgets to spend?
